New website, Old Post

Right now I am working on a new website using WordPress. My Blog updates have been here at the new website. So, to keep the old site up, I will repost from a 2010 trip to Costa Rica that is no longer on the web. It was done using iWeb, and taken down after I started to use RapidWeaver. Six friends, three couples, went with us. Elaine and I were on our own for a few days. Then we met up with Scot and D'ava. They then went to the Pacific Coast. We went back to San Jose to meet Matt, Crickett, Gary, and Jenne. We then drove to the Caribbean Coast near Panama. From Last year:

Well, is is time for another trip. This time we are going to Costa Rica for Elaine's birthday. We will spend time exploring the Arenal Volcano area, Puerto Viejo, and then we have a house if Dominical Beach. This trip will take us up through the middle of Costa Rica, over to the Caribbean coast near Panama (I need to post my sailing trip through the San Blas Islands), and then back across country to the Pacific. All this traveling will be done in a 4x4 pick up. I will try to update daily, if possible.

This is getting weird!

Elaine and I went to OSH to pick up some pots and plants today. We saw that creepy guy driving another car in the parking lot. This time he was in a cool Cobra. He has got the weirdest hairdo. I took the picture, and he just looked at us. No comment or anything when Elaine told him he had a nice car. He must be going to the car shows next week in Monterey and Carmel. We plan on going to the Mecum auction, and the races at Laguna Seca over the weekend.

Strange Dude at the Santa Cruz Harbor

Elaine and I went to Johnny's Harborside today for lunch on our way to see the newest Woody Allen film, Midnight in Paris. Lunch was very good and the Bloody Mary was excellent. Elaine had the shrimp wraps. I had a soft shell crab sandwich. On our way out, some car art was parked in the Santa Cruz Harbor lot. Some strange looking dude was driving it away. He seemed to have a very pointed head, and greenish color to his skin. Weird looking.

Oh yeah, the movie was good, simple story, and quirky. The artist from the 1920's portrayed by some superb performances of exemplary actors. When we left the Nickelodeon theater, the sun was out, bright and warm, therefore we dropped the top on her XKR.

America's Cup will be exciting!

The AC racing will be fantastic on the San Francisco Bay. No more snoozing, and watching slow boats miles off shore. This video reminds me of that great scene in The Thomas Crown affair, where they capsize a D type catamaran. Russell Coutts pitchpoled this AC 45 yesterday in the SF Bay. These are actual practice boats. The real race boats are are quite longer, 72 feet.

Austin by the River

There are wide trails on both sides of the river going through downtown Austin. Great for biking, wildlife, flowers, and people watching.

The spring is great time in Austin.

Verde Camp is a great place to stay in the South Congress area. Beautiful neighborhoods, walk to fun shops, and great eating. Austin Food Tours does a great SoCo food tour, we did the downtown tour that starts at the downtown farmers market. This is a great husband and wife team that take you to some of the best eats around.
We rode the bikes down to the South Congress Bridge to watch the mexican freetail bats that fly out from under the bridge. We had a great view on a grassy knoll. I put a video from my phone on You Tube.

Lunch Trucks, Austin Style

This row of lunch wagons on South Congress was great. Elaine and I had great Thai food at Coat and Thai. They were able to keep the peanuts out of Elaine's food. The green curry was nice and HOT.

Sushi Box is a new box trailer downtown. Of course I had to check it out. I had an Octopus salad that was nice and crunchy. The owners and executive chef came outside and talked to me a bit. Very nice people.
Trey's Cuisine. Great service and Food. I had Scottish eggs, all local on the plate, eggs, wrapped in ground lamb, breaded and deep fried over a bed of greens. They even gave me a half of a lamb burger, because I had to wait a little bit.
